We are pleased to announce that we registered in September as an official centre to run the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for our pupils.
We will be offering the Bronze Award scheme to year 10 pupils in 2016.
The deadline for this year’s registration is: Friday 27th November. It costs £20.00 to enrol and this covers the cost of your starter pack and online registration. More details about additional costs of partaking in the scheme will be to do with the Expedition unit. Pupils will need to finance their own kit and camping equipment in small expedition groups.
If you need assistance in finding suitable activities / organisations please speak to your DofE Managernow.
Training for the expedition element will be provided by school staff with practice walks after school included. The final expedition will most likely take place in the New Forest with transport to and from the drop off and pick up points arranged in the school mini bus.
The costs of the expedition must be paid by the participants which includes:
Camp site fees
Walking shoes / boots
Sleeping bag / ground mats
Food (the cost split amongst your walking team)
Your own plate/bowl and cutlery
Washing / drying up kit (between your team)
The school aims to provide tents and cooking stoves for the expedition group but these items must be carried amongst the participants throughout the expedition weekend.
